The Perfect Girlfriend – Karen Hamilton

YOU’VE NEVER READ A LOVE STORY AS TWISTED AS THIS.
Meet Juliette. She’s intelligent, driven, committed – and in love.

Juliette loves Nate.
She will follow him anywhere. She’s even become a flight
attendant for his airline, so she can keep a closer eye on him.

They are meant to be.
The fact that Nate broke up with her six months ago means nothing.
Because Juliette has a plan to win him back.

She is the perfect girlfriend.
And she’ll make sure no one stops her from
getting exactly what she wants.

True love hurts, but Juliette knows it’s worth all the pain…

 About the Author:

Karen Hamilton caught the travel bug after an early childhood spent abroad (Angola, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Belgium and Italy) and having worked as cabin crew for a major airline.
In 2006, she and her husband put down roots in Hampshire UK and four years ago, she later gave up flying to raise their three sons and concentrate on her writing.
In 2009, she decided to ‘become a writer.’

The Perfect Girlfriend is her first novel.

My Review:

If you follow my blog then you will know that I absolutely adore delusional, bat-sh*t crazy protagonists and when they are unreliable I feel like all my dreams have come true, so when I saw The Perfect Girlfriend in a list of books containing characters who were bordering on deranged psychopaths I immediately bought the book and popped it straight to the top of my TBR pile.

I read this book within a day – which proves two things a) I literally couldn’t put it down and b) I probably need to apologise to my family and dog for ignoring them.

The Perfect Girlfriend is a story about OBSESSION and takes stalking to a whole new, uncomfortable and disturbing level.  Juliette is madly, head over heels in love with Nate, a handsome airline pilot.  The only minor problem is that Nate broke up with Juliette months ago and doesn’t want to have anything to do with her.  Undeterred by this Juliette has a “Plan of Action” to win back his love and fulfil her happy ever after ending, because Juliette believes “If they come back, they’re yours. If they don’t, make them”.

Honestly, this book ticked all my boxes in the psychological thriller genre and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who loves twisty, twisted characters who don’t have an ounce of common decency and are determined to get what they want at whatever cost.  The Perfect Girlfriend was highly entertaining, fast paced, incredibly addictive and whilst you really shouldn’t cheer Juliette on or encourage her behaviour, it was hard NOT to feel sympathy for her despite following her actions with your heart in your throat, shaking your head and silently screaming NO, NO, NO.

Loved it. 5 big fat stars from me.
