“John Nicholl, an ex-police officer, child protection social worker and lecturer, has written four dark psychological suspense thrillers”
Tell me about your latest book and why we should read it?
It’s a darkly psychological thriller called A Cold Cold Heart. My editor seems to think it’s the best thing I’ve written.
I’ll leave that for readers to judge. Theirs are the only opinions that really matter.
If someone was to write your life story what would the title be?
Fighting back, or Not giving up.
What’s the strangest fan question or request you’ve received?
Someone once said, ‘My uncle writes a bit. Have you heard of him?’
‘What’s his name?’
‘Sebastian Faulks.’
‘Oh, yeah, he does write a bit, doesn’t he!’
If you could co-write with anyone in the world (alive or dead) who would it be?
Leslie Thomas. I love his humour.
Tell me something nobody else knows about you (yet!).
I once fought for a British kick-boxing title.
Finally please recommend 3 books that you have recently read and tell me why you’ve chosen these.
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho – a truly beautifully written and inspirational book, Castaway by Lucy Irvine – a brutally honest story of self discovery in the face of adversity, and Sick by Christa Wojciechowski – a dark tale of Munchausen’s syndrome that’s packed with suspense.
