Tell me about your latest book and why we should read it?
My debut novel, Everything But The Truth, came out in March of this year and is about a woman who leans over in the night and catches sight of an email on her boyfriend’s iPad that indicates he has committed an ‘atrocity.’
If someone was to write your life story what would the title be?
I worried and it happened anyway
What’s the strangest fan question or request you’ve received?
Lots of people want to post me their novel, after I give them my address, to sign and post back!
If you could co-write with anyone in the world (alive or dead) who would it be?
I mean, I think I would be a horrible co-writer because I’m a control freak, but, probably Zadie Smith.
Tell me something nobody else knows about you (yet!).
Jeez. Nobody in the world? There would be a reason for that… Here’s a thing: I worry about death all the time. Cheery!
Finally please recommend 3 books that you have recently read and tell me why you’ve chosen these.
– You Don’t Know Me by Imran Mahmood – a searing, voicey triumph of a courtroom drama
– Last Seen by Lucy Clarke – a sad and evocative tale of female friendship
– Anatomy of a Scandal by Sarah Vaughan – an MP is accused of rape; told from the perspective of his wife and the prosecuting barrister.
Who is Gillian McAllister?
I am an author. Everything But The Truth, my debut novel, is came out with Penguin in March 2016 and I am absolutely terrified. I like my very orange cat, reading books in bed while it rains, taking baths so hot they turn my skin pink and that moment where you think ‘what if . . . ‘ and a novel idea is born.
