A Quickie with Deborah O’Connor

Tell me about your latest book and why we should read it?

My Husband’s Son is a psychological thriller about a woman who thinks she sees her husband’s missing son.  It’s very controversial, the ending especially, but it is a page-turner and it will make you think.

If someone was to write your life story what would the title be?

Against All Odds

What’s the strangest fan question or request you’ve received?

A German actor called Jo Weil was reading my book and accidentally left it on a train with only 30 pages to go.  He was desperate to know what happened and so he tweeted his fans about it.  I was then inundated by his many followers who tracked me down and asked me if I could help Jo. I DM’d him and sorted him out with the last section of the book and we’ve now become friends.

If you could co-write with anyone in the world (alive or dead) who would it be?

Susie Steiner.  She’s a genius.

Tell me something nobody else knows about you (yet!).

I have an Instagram stories addiction.  Specifically, Busy Phillips’ Instagram stories.

Finally please recommend 3 books that you have recently read and tell me why you’ve chosen these.

The Dry – Jane Harper

Gripping and one of the best written thrillers in ages.

Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine – Gail Honeyman

Heartbreaking and heartwarming, I fell in love with Eleanor big time.  A very funny book with a huge heart.

All The Wicked Girls – Chris Whitaker

An amazing, brilliantly written novel that I think is going to be huge.  It certainly deserves to be.
