Tell me about your latest book and why we should read it?
First To Die is the second in my Zain Harris-Kate Riley series, and this time it sees them and the elite unit they manage facing one of the biggest nightmares that security services fear: a possible bio-terrorism attack in London. A body is found in St James Park the night after the anonymous protests, wearing a black cloak and Guido Fawkes mask. It turns out to be one of the top civil servants in the country…but he’s not the only one that’s going to die. The novel is a fast paced thriller with lots of twists and turns and surprises, and I know everyone says this, but the ending has a couple of major twists that even I didn’t see coming when I was writing.
If someone was to write your life story what would the title be?
What him? He did it? But he was always so quiet and nice to everyone. You never can tell. Innit.
What’s the strangest fan question or request you’ve received?
Fans? I’d love some. Seriously.
If you could co-write with anyone in the world (alive or dead) who would it be?
John Le Carre and Graham Greene. They are my favourite writers, and I think they would have the best stories to tell. Or Jackie Collins. Now she really would have the best stories to tell.
Tell me something nobody else knows about you (yet!).
I dye my beard. Although I just had an allergic reaction to Just for Men. Any alternative suggestions most welcome. I now use beard mascara. Yes it’s a thing. I think I should probably not tell people this. Oh well.
Finally please recommend 3 books that you have recently read and tell me why you’ve chosen them
Cut to the Bone, First To Die…cos I wrote them? Lol. Sorry.
Ok the last three books that I read:
The Other Half of Happiness by Ayisha Malik (it just reminds me of my family…and I think I’d behave like Sofia Khan if I ever fell in love),
Tall Oaks by Chris Whittaker (seriously just brilliant)
and A Legacy of Spies by John Le Carre (he’s a legend).
